The Department of Medicine's Office of Medical Education, Evaluation & Research Development (OMEERD) at Scott & White and The Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine is led by Dr. John D. Myers, vice chair for educational affairs, and Dr. Colleen Y. Colbert, director. Affiliated researchers include members of the Enhancing Scholarship in Medicine (ESIM) research collaborative (Drs. Christian Cable, Tresa McNeal, Curtis Mirkes, John D. Myers, and Colleen Colbert, lead) and hospitalist researchers (Drs. Sabitha Rajan and Santosh Reddy).
The overall goal of our research is to translate medical education (UME, GME and interprofessional education) into better patient outcomes. We are involved in the following initiatives: education and research targeting systems thinking, systems-based care, quality improvement and patient safety; enhancement of learner, program and system evaluation, including development and validation of measurement instruments; medical education research; and faculty development in medical education and aspects of research
