  • A federally mandated committee consisting of at least 5 members, one of which must be a non-scientist
  • Responsible for ensuring the protection of the rights and welfare of human research subjects
  • This protection involves safeguarding against physical, emotional, social and privacy risks to human subjects
  • Scott & White has one IRB, and the board is comprised of scientific and non-scientific members as well as unaffiliated community representatives
