Office of Research Laboratory Compliance (ORLC)
The Office of Research Laboratory Compliance (ORLC) Department supports the research staff of Scott & White, Texas A&M Health Science Center, and their affiliates. The staff is comprised of a Biological Safety Officer and a Research Safety Coordinator who consults with investigators in hazard recognition for protocol review and acceptance as well as Laboratory hazard recognition and elimination to promote the safety of personnel, community, and the environment.
ORLC ensures a safe work environment
With cooperative partnerships, the ORLC ensures a safe work environment through routine inspections, core equipment support, compliance with policies and applicable regulations. General Laboratory training is provided and conducted for all personnel and relevant training to personnel using potentially infectious materials, hazardous chemicals, recombinant DNA and/or radioactive materials. Approvals must be obtained by The Institutional Biological safety Committee (IBC) for use of Recombinant DNA, and the Radiation Safety Committee for of ALL radioactive materials.
